Arsenic & Lies, and BOX will return (and needs a new home)
Oh yes, it's time...
A couple of years behind the trend maybe, but I’m experimenting with ways to spread word about the game things I’m up to without requiring people to be on specific social media platforms.
I already have a linktree, which you can subscribe to if you want to receive notifications directing you to game announcements and publications I’m involved in.
While linktree is good for immediate updates, it doesn’t allow for long rambling pages of text, and so the need for a mailing list rears its terrible head.
The mailing list will provide you with up to date information about larps and other games I am running, as well as general updates.
So, let’s get going…
BOX: Northern Larp Festival
Back in February, I ran the first BOX: Northern Larp Festival alongside Cara Packwood, Char Holdway, Hazel Dixon and Jon Fry. We had a blast and are hoping to run the festival again in winter 2025.
Then our venue, which was so great for the event, unexpectedly shut down last month…
We’re on the hunt for a new home for BOX! If you have thoughts on a suitable venue in the north of England, we would absolutely love to hear from you - please do get in touch via email at boxlarpfestival@gmail.com or Facebook.
Arsenic & Lies at The Treehouse
Jon and I have been running monthly larps at the Treehouse Boardgame Cafe in Sheffield for well over a year now!
What started as a year long game heavily influenced by Changeling: The Lost has now become a mostly-monthly chamber larp gathering. We’ve run a mix of games written by us and games written by other people which we love! The idea is to explore different types and genres of larp, always focusing on keeping things as accessible as possible for people new to the concept.
We’re stoked for our next installment: Arsenic and Lies by Karolina Soltys. I played this game FAR TOO MUCH during the covid lockdowns, using video calls to host a swanky New Years’ party and Discord DMs in lieu of poison. It’s a murder mystery for the kind of player who figures out their character can achieve all their desires by accusing their enemy of the murder rather than actually trying to solve it. This is to say - it’s often very chaotic and full of horrible horrible characters. Great stuff!
Arsenic & Lies will run at the Treehouse Boardgame Cafe in central Sheffield from 1800-2200 on 9th June. Tickets available here.
Thanks for reading! I don’t have any plans to post to a specific schedule, I’d rather wait until I have a decent amount to talk about. So keep an eye out!
